13.1

Two years ago, after a series of running injuries, I was told by a physical therapist that I should think about picking up swimming--I'd damaged my body, feet to hips, so badly that I'd never be a runner again. At first I felt hopeless; I'm a runner and that's what always picked me up and kept me going.  Thinking that I'd never run again left me devastated.

After letting the news digest, I poured myself into physical therapy and stretching exercises.  I read running blogs as inspiration and made the decision to not give up.

On the morning of October 16, 2011, after 2 hours, 4 minutes, and 30 seconds, I finished my first half-marathon, and damn did it it feel good!

I've learned a lot about myself through my journey, and I found a strength I never knew I had.  I learned that even when it seems like all odds are against you, with perseverance and passion, you can overcome anything!

I look forward to training for my next race, and potentially a full 26.2 later down the road.
